Carlos Alba


Carlos worked as a journalist for 20 years before launching his media consultancy, Carlos Alba Media, in 2010. During that time, he held senior executive roles at several national newspapers, including The Herald, The Daily Record and the Sunday Times, where he was Scotland Editor, and won five national journalism awards. He now provides public relations and marketing support to a range of clients in the private, public and Third sectors.

His debut novel Kane’s Ladder was published by Polygon in 2008 followed, in 2011, by The Songs of Manolo Escobar. His third novel, There’s a Problem with Dad, published by Ringwood in 2021, was inspired by his experience of observing, over several years, a family member with undiagnosed, high functioning autism.

He lives in Glasgow with his wife Hilary and three children, Molly, Michael and Carmen.
